Assuming Dorico can do this, I have not been able to locate this function either in help files or various libraries/options. finale uses a mask that does this allowing the part to have playback capabilites
The two programs work differently on this:
In Finale you copy the notes and then hide them with the bar-repeat staff style.
Dorico repeats the music with just the repeat region. No hidden notation needed.
Hi Mark, thanks so much for getting back to me on this. So, in essence, Dorico references
back to the source measures and repeats, based on the number of measures included in target region
Hi @Thomuz58,
Yes, that’s right!
When it comes to bar repeats Dorico works exactly as real musician would read them.
In the Bottom Properties panel you could specify how many times the targeted region should repeat.
Best wishes,
Thurisaz
That‘s incorrect. The properties control things like the number of bars to repeat and the displayed count. The number of repetitions is determined by the extent of the bar-repeat region itself.
Hi @Mark_Johnson,
Everything in my statement is completely correct as shown on the screenshot below:
Play n times means how many times something “a region of bars” will be repeated.
Hello all— I’m trying to hide a couple of sections in my Dorico 5 project because they are repeated. I created the MIDI file in MOTU Digital Performer 11 and exported/imported the MusicXML file into Dorico. Super easy and allows me to fine tune all my note data in a full-featured MIDI sequencer.
DP has a Quickscribe feature that allows you to hide a group a measures that are repeated. You simply choose the measures to be repeated and then tell DP what measure to begin hiding those measures. Then you simply create endings to suit your particular purpose.
Does Dorico 5 provide something similar, where already-existing measures can be hidden but not deleted? I’d prefer to avoid deleting the sections if I can avoid it, as I may want to come back later and expand the sections out again with new material.
Many thanks in advance for any tips!
