Does Dorico have a Note Spacing function like Sibelius?

Yes, yes.
Dorico is fantastic !
I give up. It’s impossible to make any criticism of your toy here.
Never mind.

In my first reply I actually criticised Dorico for being less flexible with regard to Note Spacing than Sibelius (and I didn’t mention that in some ways, Sibelius’s note spacing is completely terrible, despite the fact that it is).

Are these not reasonably comparable?

The important thing is:

what results can you / can’t you achieve with these functions? And are they easy to achieve?

These apps are, after all, just tools to get our work done.

Personally, I find Dorico’s Note Spacing tools to be highly flexible, and indicative of the way the whole app works (“intuitive”, you could call it). – Set a global spacing; change it locally if needed; and then make manual adjustments for fine-tuning if absolutely necessary.

Absolutely, Ben.
The essential point is to have found the tool with which you feel most comfortable and in which you have the best control over the results.
It doesn’t matter which one. The world isn’t going to stop spinning suddenly because of that.

 :+1:

True - but they natively had an architecture that supported plugins. Since some of these are quite valuable, I’m surprised Finale didn’t add these noodles to the spaghetti and incorporate them into their UI. There are a couple of these plugins I very much miss.

Personally, I do like better the Cassoulet.
