Does NO SUPPORT for Nuage mean NO PARTS?

My Scribble Strip on my Fader Pack is almost completly dark now. Only one channel has enough backlight to read it. So, I put in a call several weeks ago to my AUTHORIZED YAMAHA REPAIR SHOP to get a quote and turn around time on this repair. After getting nothing back from my initial call, I checked in for an update.

They said that THEY WERE STILL WAITING ON YAMAHA to answer my question about parts and delivery. They sent a second request when I called them back. Still no reply.

Does this mean that Nuage is COMPLETELY ABANDONED? Seriously? You van’t even get them fixed when needed now?

Has anyone here had their unit successfully serviced?

I contacted Yamaha US Pro Audio Support on 9/17 with a few different inquiries regarding future updates for Nuage Workgroup Manager and hardware support, and they replied back the same day. I have contacted them before and they have always been super-responsive; like same-day responsive, so you may want to try to contact them directly to see if they have the parts you need. Here is the conversation I had with them regarding hardware support:

My question to Yamaha:

“One last question: how much longer will Yamaha support my Nuage hardware? Like, if something breaks, will I still be able to send back to Yamaha for repairs (not for free of course)? And if so, for how much longer?”

Their response:

“The real answer there is however long we have parts needed for the repair. When Yamaha discontinues a product, there are usually parts available for a quantity of full units, but these are just instead kept as parts, with any high priority parts purchased in addition (screens are usually a good target here, as the manufacturers we purchase them from also discontinue their production forcing us to anticipate and purchase a needed quantity).

If you did need your product serviced, our Service Department can be reached at (866) 211-9366 option 4, or at proaudiorepair@yamaha.com.

Alternately, you could use our webtool to find an authorized service center in your area.
https://www.yamaha.com/paragon/servicerlocator/

You could also contact our service department first looking for a recommendation for a local servicer…whichever of the above suits you best.”

So maybe contact them directly and see if they can help you.

I heard back from Yamaha. For anyone with the same issue, you may find this helpful.

The cost of the replacment part for the scribble strip is:

250= CIRCUIT BOARD PN2 NCS500-FD
Part# WZ029900
MSRP: $ 1,007.54 EACH

According to the diagram they sent, this only covers ONE SECTION OF 8. Which means you’ll need 2 of them. That’s $2,015.08 JUST FOR THE PARTS. :scream: You’ll still have to factor in tax, shipping and the repair shop’s labor charge for some lightbulbs!!!

Anyone besides me think that’s ridiculous?:thinking:

Hmmm…. It’s certainly ending up being a fair chunk of money.

If it was me I’d probably just try to sell it either as-is or fix it and then sell it. I just figure sooner or later that’ll happen and considering it’s no longer being made sooner is probably better in terms of getting the most for it. And then I’d just buy Avid s1/dock instead. Don’t like that company, but what is one to do?

I agree with Mattias. Parts will dry up and then you will have to rely on the disassembly of older decommissioned units, if that’s even possible.

In terms of a selling … sooner the better ( unless you want to run it as long as you can, get your moneys worth, then sell it for parts for someone else :wink: )

No gear lasts forever, but Yamaha really have no interest in their customers investments in their products.

VERY Sad, but true.:frowning::angry:

The responsible management for the NUAGE series should get the first place in the hall of shame - this whole story really is a shame for a company like YAMAHA (and their software part Steinberg). Good product but completely wrong product management from beginning to the end.
