Does Steinberg Download Assistant contain items you don't have a license for?

Hi all,

So I have Cubase 14 pro.

download assistant lists a load of things to download and install.

For example Halion Sonic 7 is listed within the C14 pro folder in the download assistant, which itself is within the “My Products” folder. But im unable to find this within the program just the SE version.

The “updates” always include update to these products or Groove Agent 5 - though the SE version is only shown in the DAW.

If it does indeed include material to download and install (There are 30+ downloads), nested under the “my Products” and “update” that you don’t have a license for, whats the point? Because it just wastes space on people computers & is quite cruel - they’re expecting products they have no access to.

It would be nice to see which downloads you are able to access. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s pretty simple. You go to the tab for the product you bought, in your case Cubase Pro 14, and everything you see in there is yours.

I just ignore the My Products tab because it doesn’t really correspond with which licenses you I own.

Everything on this page comes with Cubase 14:

Don’t mix up HALion Sonic 7 (free) with HALion 7, or HALion Sonic Selection (free) with HALion Sonic Collection.
Everything in the “MyProducts” section is yours.

@steve I don’t have tabs for different products, just “Updates”, “My Products” and “All Products”.
:person_shrugging:
There are icons for all the stuff…

It doesn’t? What is missing?

Got it,

Just whated i to bring it up based of my experience. One example, there was a time Groove Agent (full version) was available as a download under which ever version of Cubase it was at the time, then, if i remember correctly, It worked for a quite a long time. Then during start up it stated I dont have a license for it. Got hat message for a while, then it disappeared from my download assistant & all Cubase versions within Download Assistant. Had similar experiences with probably 2/3 other products. (Olympus Choir and some sort of guitar VTSi IIRC from memory, I dont remember the others)

I actually still get Groove Agent (full version) updates till this day.

as well and “updates” for a product i own a higher version of which isnt a huge deal but just an observation.

“I just ignore the My Products tab because it doesn’t really correspond with which licenses you own.” - thats new to news to me tbh, something that Stienberg should probably resolve.

steve@,

Sorry, but My Products tab correspond exactly to the licenses I own, these for which I invested a lot of money…

ha…Because I own so much 3rd-party stuff, I ignore everything other than the core programs

@Johnny_Moneto @Rene_L There are items displayed for which I don’t have licenses, for example, trials that ended years ago. I just refer to the SAM regarding what licenses I have.

Expired trials. Got it. Anything else?

A lot of the downloads don’t work in the media bay, especially sample packs. No audio or MIDI files are accessible, indicated by a red dot beside them.?

They will probably work once you obtain the required license for them. “Sold separately” is the term, I guess.
