Dolby Atmos Session Problem N14.0.40 but OK in 14.0,32

I have a Doby Atmos session I created in N14.0.32 that will not open in N14.0.40.

I get the above message each time, even I disable 3rd party plugs.

I uninstall 14.0.40, then install 14.0.32 and the problem goes away.

11 days and this has been an issue with this broken 14.0.40 release. Anyone who updates from the download assistant and does not visit the forum first will end up with this broken Dolby Atmos, You will have to stick with 14.0.32. Major Mess Up.

Can’t believe I missed this! Thank you Dietz!! Starting a big Atmos series today on an update that can’t reliably handle Atmos was not going to be fun. Time to roll back my machines.

Absolutely, also there should be a way of showing a warning on the download assistant as well. Personally I think this release should have been pulled as soon as the user base identified the issue.

Website section with “Technical Alerts” informing users about known issues, with each issue in that section having a bug tracker number. This way we can search the section for verified problems as well subscribe to new posts in that section. Right now, we can have multiple users experiencing the same core issue, yet they describe it differently because the problem is exposed differently, they work differently, they think differently, and they speak different languages. We users often have to decipher what others mean in order to understand even if it is a problem in the first place, so it would be much better for us if there was a section for issues that users could search instead. It would obviously mean that Steinberg would have to make the commitment to making these publicly available, and it “should” at least be the most important ones. Given that participation by Steinberg staff in this forum is so sparse, and given that we almost never get a proactive alert of things that have gone wrong, this would be the second-best thing. Think of this as an alternative to charging more for Nuendo in order to provide more support proactive and online support. “The competition” offers both much, much more frequent forum participation and a dedicated section with issues.

I know! It seems Steinberg have stated it’s a Windows only problem but it was stated by users days ago that it was also a problem on MacOS as well. Have no clue what is going on behind the scenes.

It’s because people were getting fighty. Often happens with issues like this. People are understandably upset, but then they start getting fighty in forum threads and eventually admins have to lock that or it can cause a forum to really degenerate.

They basically already said what they have to say about it: They know it is an issue, and they are working on it. The fact that they don’t already have a fix would indicate that it is something that isn’t that simple. Sadly a lot of bugs are like that where it isn’t a “change one line of code and it is fixed” situation but rather “this is a complex interaction of things and is going to take awhile to figure out the root cause.”

Yeah but they only acknowledged the Atmos issue, and there are others. To me it is a very lackluster response from the company given the circumstances.

And now Cubase 15 has been released with ……. Broken Dolby Atmos. It’s officially in the known issues. What is going on?

Very worryingly crazy! As it currently stands, between Nuendo and Cubase there are now 3 official releases available for Download (both paid and maintenance) which have a broken major component.
