RIP currently will only render the channel format of the target bus! and not the format of the source track! This is bad or a bug.
So all my mono or stereo tracks (who’s output goes to a 7.1.4 bus) all RIP as 7.1.4 files. Even if I put an extra mono/stereo bus before the surround bus, it still ends up being a 7.1.4 interleaved file. When would this ever be a preferred behaviour? If we wanted that we would use Export or bounce.
Render in place is supposed to give the source track format, so we can select a time range hit the key command and we have a replacement track (without burnt in automation) with the rendered FX (including real time) whether or not its an insert plugin or native FX. They should be treated the same way and result in the source track format.
I agree with all of this. RIP is another feature that is incomplete in Cubendo, and gets in the way of fast workflow in the ways descibed here. It’s frustrating.
