Dorico 4.1 and Dorico for iPad 2.3 now available

We’re pleased to announce the immediate availability of the fourth update to Dorico 4 since its release in January this year, Dorico 4.1. This is a free update for all Dorico Pro 4, Dorico Elements 4 and Dorico SE users, and can be downloaded now via Steinberg Download Assistant.

This update reintroduces the dynamics editor in the Key Editor, along with significant improvements to the other editors. Lyrics have been significantly overhauled and now boast additional formatting capabilities, plus support for ignoring hanging punctuation when aligning lyrics relative to notes. You can now print or export graphics from a selection of flows in a layout, and you can also extensively customise the colours used for voices and important user interface elements via the new Colors page in Preferences. Plus many other improvements, and more than 80 bug fixes.

For full details of Dorico 4.1, please check out the Dorico blog:

We have also made available a new version of Dorico for iPad, version 2.3, today. It’s fully up-to-date with Dorico 4.1, and also includes the new and improved dynamics editor and other improvements to the Key Editor. Dorico for iPad 2.3 also introduces a new way to unlock its premium features: for those users who prefer not to pay a monthly or annual subscription, it’s now possible to buy a one-off Lifetime Unlock in-app purchase that provides permanent access to all current and future subscription-only features. For full details, please read this post on the Dorico blog:

We hope you enjoy these new updates. The team is already hard at work on the next Dorico 4 update, which will restore the two remaining editors to the Key Editor, and will also provide a few extra treats.

We have discovered that there is currently a problem with the new “lifetime unlock” in-app purchase in the App Store, and you will find that no price appears in the button that you press to make the purchase, and that indeed the purchase is not currently possible. We have reached out to Apple to ask them for assistance and will provide an update as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

An update to this: Apple resolved the issue with the Lifetime Unlock in-app purchase, and as of Tuesday 7 June this is now available for purchase from within Dorico for iPad.
