Hi, I downloaded Dorico 4 SE today to try it before purchasing the full version. The download was successful and I opened the program with a new piano project. The default program loaded the generic asio drivers characterized by audible latency and so from the preferences tab I switched to the drivers for my Line6 UX2 audio card. I tried to record a small fragment with a midi keyboard connected to my PC and everything worked perfectly both in recording and playback and, although the score was not complex, I was still impressed by the precision with which the notes were reported in both the treble and bass clef. But the party was short-lived because then at a certain point I had no more audio, followed by a system crash. I queried the network and based on the information gathered, I downloaded a Steinberg correction file for the possible conflict with Cubase 12 which I also installed on the PC. It worked for a while then the audio went mute again although the real-time writing process from the midi keyboard remained excellent, but without sounds either in recording or playback. I tried disabling some items from the control panel (preventing the exclusive use of the drivers by some devices), a solution that worked for some but not for me. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but still nothing. I don’t understand why it worked very well at the beginning and now it doesn’t anymore without me having done any particular maneuvers. I’m very sorry because it’s an excellent notation program that I would like to buy. I forgot, only the sound of the metronome is still audible. Thank you very much, Tristano.
To get a solution you should do Help>Create Diagnostic Report and upload here the zip file that appears on your Desktop. One of the Dev Team will then be able to see what is happening and offer some advice.
Adding to Janus, before creating the diagnostic report, please first create a new project from piano template, enter some arbitrary notes and then do the Create Diagnostic Report from the menu. Thanks
Thank you so much for your help. Here is the requested diagnostic file.
I would like to add that in Dorico, even if no sound is emitted, every time I press a key on the midi keyboard connected to the PC, the small green dot at the bottom right of the Dorico writing screen lights up. Best regards.
Thanks for the data.
I can see that you have HALion Sonic SE installed as well as HALion Sonic. Now, HALion Sonic became the new default VSTinstrument in Dorico 5, but you have Dorico 4, but I don’t think that in the Dorico 4 license the license for HALion Sonic is contained. So, what if you go to the Dorico Preferences and on the Play tab choose HALion Sonic SE to be the preferred instrument? Does that make sound?
If not, go to the Play tab and in the lower zone where the mixer is shown, is there any metering flickering on any of the channels while playing back?
Saluti, Tris.
sorry here is the text in english:
Thanks for your help. I have set Halion Sonic SE as my preferred instrument, but still no audio. Some midi messages arrive because every time I press a key on my Nektar a small green light turns on in the lower right corner of Dorico. During playback the beep and reverb meters flash, but nothing flashes on “piano”. I would think that the input signal arrives, but it is not correctly sent to the output for playback. Consider that if I open my Cubase 12 elements, the playback of tracks with Halion is perfect using the same driver as the audio card. I don’t understand why it worked fine right after installation and then nothing. In the meantime I’m trying to organize myself with zoom which I currently don’t have installed on my PC. Regards, Tris.
Good morning, I didn’t think so soon. I’m very sorry, but I’m not home this weekend. Can we find a day for next week starting from Wednesday, February 19?
Thank you for your understanding. I wish you a good weekend.
