Dorico 5.1.30

Hi @W_Evink ,
welcome to the forum.
Could you please say something more about the video . MP4 is just a container that can carry different kinds of formats of video and audio. For example you could use the free tool exiftool to find out the exact format.

Hey good news! Latest beta build (5.1.31.2095) fixes the problem. Dorico on iPad comes up, displays a spinner for a while, then gets on with life. Thanks for super quick response, really appreciate it. - /\ndy

hi, hope this isn’t too off-topic but I am a recent Dorico convert (Version 5.1.21.2098 (Feb 22 2024)) and about to buy noteperformer and (expensive) libraries

Of the issues discussed here I understand less than zero - so my question might be irrelevant - but I’m wondering will they affect my system and should I install an update from the Dorico version I have before going forward with putting my system together? or should I barrel ahead?

Plan is to use noteperformer and CSS + some solo instruments

thanks

How do you think adding NP and NPPE to run CSS will affect your system? Are you worried about RAM size or disk space?

I have found Dorico 5.1.30 works smoothly with NP and its NPPE extensions and see no reason to avoid updating your Dorico 5 to the latest version unless certain posts here have given you pause. If that is the case, you might tell us what your system configuration is to see if we spot similarities between your setup and those few that have had hiccups.

Hi,
I am getting a Kernel Panic when opening Halioin Sonic 7.
Already made a different topic, posting for reference.

Hi @azu, you don’t need to post the same subject on multiple threads: all the posts will be read.
As long as the Kernel panic, if you search on the Forum you find that it was discussed in different places. For example here.

Should Windows 10 and 11 users of Dorico Pro 5 preferably not yet hurry up to install Version 5.1.30?

I’ve had no problems at all with 5.1.30 (Win 10). The reported problems seem to be only on Mac/iPad.

I found the ‘error’, my USB Focusrite caused it (trial and error), disconnected it, 30 seconds later connected it again and the video played with the correct audio speed.

Hi there

After updating to 5.1.30 Dorico consistently crashes my orchestral project as soon as it starts loading the samples for HSO/ICONICA. Not just the application crashing, but a complete forced shutdown of a new MacBook M2 every time. Is there a way I can downgrade to the previous version to finish the score on time?

Any help appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

I guess you are on Sonoma 14.4 on your MacBook, so that is a known problem with this release of MacOS

macOS Sonoma 14.4: Reasons Not to Upgrade [Updated] - MacRumors

It has been reported several times here in the Forum and everyone is basically waiting for a fix from Apple.

Patch 14.4.1 should already fix this issue.

Thank you very much Juergen!
Yes, Sonoma 14.4.1, and I hadn’t experienced it with any other software so I thought Dorico was the cause. It puzzles me a bit that it only started after updating Dorico, but I guess going back to the previous version of Dorico wouldn’t fix the issue then?

Oh… I am on 14.4.1 and the issue is not fixed for me :open_mouth:

No, the issue is still not fixed in 14.4.1.

However, the latest beta of 14.5 does fix it; so hopefully, you won’t have to wait too long.

No: it’s not a Dorico problem: it’s an OS problem.

That is great to know. Really appreciate it!
Nothing left to do but wait then…

Just a question about the less compressed sounds Daniel mentioned foe the new iPad version higher up in this thread. I have an older Pro iPad with according to expert sites 8 GB RAM. The version before this update works very well with the ICONICA default instruments. I can play pieces with full orchestra without clicks or crashes. So more than the recommendation.

Will the new update with less compressed sounds charge the RAM additionally and risk that I cannot play the fullmorchestra pieces anymore?

Hi @All!
I am on Sonoma 14.4.1 and the newest Update on my iPad.
There are to many problems with Dorico 5.1.3, so I would wish to reinstall the former versions, ipad and Maxcbookpro…is there a page, which offers the older versions?

I used Time Machine to retrieve my 5.1.29 version. So if you have a backup drive, that should work. I couldn’t find the previous version on the Steinberg website…
