There is no way I can find a solution for Dorico 5 to start up on my M3 MacBook Pro! It is always just waiting for the audio engine!
Welcome to the forum. The same thing happened to me last night; I was able to fix it by opening Activity Monitor and quitting a process - I think it was called Steinberg Audio Helper or something like that. Sorry, I can’t remember its exact name. But then everything worked as usual.
Right, in Activity Monitor kill every process with vst in its name. Then launch Dorico again.
But before doing the aforementioned, please first take a spindump. (In Activity Monitor at the top middle of the window is a round little icon with 3 dots inside. click on that and then Create Spin Dump. Save the output, zip it up and post here. Thanks . If there is no such icon, make the window bigger)
I have not opened Dorico for a week since I had this problem persistently.
Now I opened it and everything went smoothly!
Thank you for your help.
Actually, when I upgraded to 5…60.xxx this starts again!
This is obviously the vst scanner.
I waited many minutes and the problem got solved though.
You are right, it must be the vstscanner. It seems that it freezes in on certain plgu-ins and never returns.
We actually included a new vstscanner in the latest Dorico update, so it has the look that although it fixes a completely different problem, it now has a new bug.
Interesting though, that apparetnly only certain people are affected. We need to find out more.
