There is no playback sound anywhere, from any library. It worked initially when I downloaded it a few weeks ago, tried pairing it with the NotePerformer Musio Playback Engine, and the issues have gotten worse and worse until now nothing works. These problems included samples cutting out during playback, Dorico assigning the wrong samples to instruments (for instance, every instrument is a trombone now–it doesn’t matter what I do to try to manually assign a specific sample to an instrument). I also tried using the "load sounds for unassigned instruments, but this did nothing.
I completely reinstalled Dorico, NotePerformer, and HalLionSonic, and it has not fixed the issue. I have tried fixing the audio output routing from preferences, as well as verifying that every other audio system on my computer is working. I checked the output audio level, tried multiple drivers (including the Steinberg built-in ASIO driver, the Generic low-latency driver, and the ASIO4ALL driver).
Would someone please help? I’m a broke grad student who spent precious money on this program pitched as the best new thing in notation, and so far it’s been a massive headache. If you need screenshots or more detailed descriptions, please let me know.
And yes. I did try turning it off and on again–both Dorico, and the PC. Multiple times.
Welcome to the forum @stjamesmusic19. The development team here will help you as soon as they are able. Meanwhile to accelerate assistance, you should create the diagnostic report from the help menu and post it here.
Also, this may be obvious and no help, but it’s always worth reapplying the playback template from the play menu.
Also, weirdly enough … before, I had an issue of Dorico not playing through headphones, but only through the main computer speakers. That seems to have switched now, in that it will be playing through headphones, but every other computer app only goes through speakers, despite me manually setting it otherwise.
thanks for the data. According to that you are using ASIO4All as audio driver at 128 buffer size. What if you increase that, still audio issues?
Do you have the Steinberg Built-in ASIO driver installed ? To find out, go to the menu Edit > Device Setup and where it says ASIO driver is a dropdownlist of all available drivers.
Is the Steinberg Built-in ASIO driver in that list. If so please choose it and see how that performs. If you don’t have it, you can get it from here.
