When I have Dorico 5 open, my Windows 10 screen saver doesn’t work. I’ve read Forum posts about Dorico and screensavers, but they were related to Mac users. If I close Dorico, the screensaver works. Clearly, Dorico is grabbing a resource Windows needs. I’m used to that with Finale, which would monopolize the audio port. At first, I assumed it was a Windows issue, so I went through steps to restore a non-working screensaver. A few mornings ago, I found a shirt draped over my bright Dorico screen by my wife, and realized the problem. Now I simply close Dorico after using it in the evening. Honestly though, there are times during a creative flow that it would be nice to have it open. Any ideas about a fix?
As a Mac user, I don’t know if this available on Windows, or implemented in the same way if it is. As well as my screensaver being set to start after a certain number of minutes, it is also possible to set a “hot corner” (the lower left corner of the screen, for example), so that the screensaver starts immediately when the mouse pointer is moved to that corner. I have another corner set to put the display to sleep.
Another option could be to turn the screen brightness all the way down, although this might depend on whether this is controllable by hardware or software on a particular setup.
Also, I am in the habit of shutting down my computer when I have finished using it for the day.
This never happened here in W10, neither with D5, nor with D6; but I never leave it open during the night… When I open again the project, Dorico shows me the last screen with what was closed.
Thanks. Unfortunately no hotspot option in Windows 10. That would be great! Probably just exiting Dorico will have to do. I sometimes get ideas in the wee hours, so having it ready to go was always handy. If I waited until morning, it was always gone or morphed into something else.
Yes, thanks.
