Dorico 5 does not allow dynamics to be attached to a specific voice. Has this been addressed in Dorico 6?
For example, I inserted a dynamic using the popover (invoked by pressing Shift+D after selecting a note in Up-stem Voice 2):

What if you close the popover with alt/opt+enter instead?
Jesper
It yields the same outcome as illustrated in the image attached to the post above.
I should shift the place of sfp in Engrave mode.
Hm, so it does. I thought that was supposed to work.
Jesper
Thanks, I think the problem here is that the two voices are all up-stem voices…
The stem direction shouldn’t matter as long as they are in different voices.
When in Note input mode with the caret, check the little note at the bottom as in the image below. Use v to change voice. Shift-D (while still in note input mode)
Write the dynamic, and close the popover with alt/opt+enter.
You might have to flip the dynamic.
Jesper
Thanks, I will retry it!
Doesn’t IVP need to be enabled for voice-specific dynamics?
For playback, yes, otherwise no.
Jesper
IVP not necessary for velocity based keyboards e.g…
So since I don’t usually use the caret when inputting notes; therefore, does that mean I now have top delete and re-enter all my notes with the caret in order to have, say the right hand forte and the left hand piano?
No, you don’t need to enter your notes that way. You just need to be in Note Entry mode when you add the dynamics.
That didn’t work for me. There’s no dynamic change and all voices are the same dynamic. I have to go into play mode and adjust the volumes. But then I’m stuck with those dynamic relationships throughout.
Can you share your project, or a cut down version of it?
