Dorico 5 Elements freezing on startup when audio device unavailable

I have an external audio interface that is not always on when I startup Dorico 5 Elements on Windows 11. It only happens when the interface is not on. Is there a way to have Dorico recognize this and default back to its own ASIO driver?

Hi @IanMIam , welcome to the forum.

I would go to %appdata%\Steinberg\Dorico 5 AudioEngine_64 (copy and paste into the address bar of a File Explorer and press Enter/Return) and delete everything that you find there and start up Dorico again. Which driver gets selected then? Check under Edit > Device Setup.

Thank you, @ulf.aus.berlin
I deleted the directory and the default audio device is the Steinberger ASIO driver.

I’ll do some more investigating on the lock up behavior (steps to recreate, etc.).

Thanks,
–Ian
