At present I have no playback for any of my scores in Dorico 5. I have check the audio. when I start Dorico I have a message ‘This project references a Playback Template playbacktemplate.user.bbcso_pro that is not installed on this system’.
Please advise as to why I have no playback from my scores.
I can see from other posts that the problem is common. I would imaging that the allows the solution to be common also!
For a start, please load one of the non-sounding projects and then dp from the Dorico menu Help > Create Diagnostics Report and post the corresponding zip file here. That will give me a first overview. Thanks
Actually, after a first look at it, it is not obvious to me, why you have no sound.
Can you please try following?
Restart Dorico and start a new project from piano template
Enter a few arbitrary notes
Does sound come out?
If not, go to the play mode and open the editor window of HALion Sonic (under the assumption that you used HALion Sonic as playback template of this project)
The HALion Sonic editor has a virutal keyboard at the bottom of the window.
When you click with the mouse on that keyboard, does sound come out? If not, is there any level metering visible in that editor window? This is important to know, because if you don’t have sound but the level metering is flickering, that would mean that the audio engine as such is working, the problem is on the driver side then.
And sorry, I oversaw that you mentioned the missing template. If you use the BBCSO template from John Barron, they will normally get installed in your Documents where you have the Dorico projects. So in my case that is:
C:\Users\ustoermer\Documents\Dorico Projects.
In the equivalent folder on your machine, are there any *.dorico_pt files?
So…I have managed to get a playback sound from a piano patch in Dorico 5 but the output is very low and the sound will only come out of my laptop speakers and not my powered monitors which I have connected to my laptop via the headphone output which I have used constantly with no problems.
Hi Ian, then please go to the menu Edit > Device Setup and in that dialog click on Device Control Panel, another little window opens. In the middle is a list of output ports, are your powered monitors among them. If so, then select them in the little square in front of the name.
Thanks Ulf; I seemed to have recovered my headphone output and have my monitors working as intended.
I loaded in a basic piano patch to play a four bar boogie phrase which played back perfectly. However, the ‘Serenade for Strings’ which features 2 Violins, Viola, Cello and Contra bass and at present lasts only seven bars produces absolutely no sound when in playback!
BTW I do wait for the ‘ready’ playback lights that display when all the instrument data is ready but still no sound!
