I tried to update my Dorico 5 pro to the newest version (5.1.51, Windows 11), but somehow during the update my PC crashed. Now I cannot perform the update or uninstall the programm to reinstall it again.
Whe I try to update from the Steinberg Download Assistant, I get this error:
Dorico 5.1.51 Application Installer
Die Installation ist aufgrund eines Fehlers fehlgeschlagen.
Der Installer wurde im angegebenen Zielordner abgelegt.
Sie können die Installation starten, indem Sie auf die
Installer-Datei doppelklicken.
When I try to use the downladed installer, I get this error-message:
Installationskonfiguration von Dorico 5 fehlgeschlagen.
Die Installationsquelle fur dieses Produkt ist nicht verfügbar
Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Quelle vorhanden ist und Sie
Zugriff darauf haben.
Fehlercode: 1612
What can I do to either update it or make a clean Re-install
Did you try to delete the files via the SDA and redownload it.
Error 1612 is usually thrown if the installation source does not exist, or is corupt in some way.
Sadly, I get the same error message when I delete the installer and download it agian. Something must still be stuck in my system, tht I cannot get rid of
What is your destination folder in the SDA? Did you change it to some specific directory?
Can you try to change the target folder to some destination where you know that you have full permissions?
I have installed dorico not in the system partition (C:/…) . Instead I used partition D. The system partition does not have enough free space and Dorico is huge
Is Dorico still listed as installed in the program section of the Windows control panel? If so, can you uninstall it from there? Maybe there are some invalid registry entries left because of the previously failed update.
The installation via the SDA is always automatically on C: drive.
What the target folder is doing, it changes the location where the files are downloaded. Do you have all permissions to create and modify files on the D: drive? Can you check that outside the Download Assistant?
I cannot uninstall it from the control panel either. I guess there is still something left in the registry. Any idea how to fix it?
Here you can download a Microsoft utility that could help to fix the broken installation. Contrary to what is stated on the page, it also works with Windows 11. I used it a couple of months ago to remove an orphaned program entry. It might be worth a try.
Thanks a lot. With this tool, I could delete dorico and re-install it. I thought I have to do a clean Re-Install of windows.
