Dorico 5 weird input issue- no tuplets, stacc, zoom, etc on typing keyboard

Hello, I wanted to reach out with an issue preventing any typed application of stacc. and accents, inputting tuplets, and zoom, etc.

I am using the most updated Dorico 5.1.51 on Macbook pro 2019 -Sequoia 15.

Wondering if anyone might be having a similar issue:

a few keyboard (of macbook pro) keys (& key combos) for such things as inputting tuplets (shift+;) are not working.

zoom is not working (Command -+)

[ and ] (accent and staccato) are also not working either.

I have tried in multiple projects and started new projects to try as well, but the issue remains.

Do you happen to know of a fix?

Thanks in Advance!

Joe

A total guess: Whenever I’ve had (or seen someone else have) this kind of situation, it’s because they accidentally changed the keyboard layout. Does the right side of your menu bar show “US”?

worked! Thanks for the tip! I had recently switched laptop to Español. Just set back to English and reset the computer. Problem resolved. Wish I could keep the laptop in ES and use the keyboard in EN, but does not seem to work.

I fiddled a bit with language and keyboard settings and it seems any international keyboard on the macbook profile causes the error. Even if it isn’t active, it appears to cause the issue. I experienced the problem until I deleted the ES keyboard

  1. Setting the keyboard layout should be effective immediately, no restart or even relaunching Dorico needed. Let us know if you experience otherwise.
  2. In System Settings > Keyboard > Input Sources, I had to uncheck “Automatically switch to a document’s input source” because certain windows obstinately kept setting it to a previous language. Do you use that setting? What happens if you turn it off?
