Dorico 5 Won't Open on Mac

Dorico 5.1.51 on a MacBook Pro running MacOS 15.0 Beta (24A5331b) starts to open, then hangs on the launch window “Initializing Font Metadata …done”.

I realize that this might be a compatibility issue with the beta OS software. However, this issue seems oddly similar to the one reported by user newdansom in June 2023. I’ve tried all of the suggestions from that post up to erasing the hard drive and reinstalling everything from scratch. I’m hoping for a less invasive solution.

Any suggestions?

Can you please zip up the Dorico 5 folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/ (that’s your user-level Library folder) and attach it here? Hopefully that’ll give me a clue what’s going on.

Hi Dan:

You’re awesome! Here are the compressed support files.

Thanks very much for those files. It looks like the problem may be with the initialisation of the audio engine, which really I should have thought of last night, sorry. (In my defence, it had been a long day, following several other long days!)

Can you please look for the Dorico 5 AudioEngine folder in ~/Library/Preferences, zip that up, and attach it here?

@JRSteve : As this is a public forum, I’d recommend editing your post to remove personal data, especially your e-mail address.

I’ve done that for John. Thanks for pointing it out.

Please find the requested files attached. Before you do any more work, I tried removing the Dorico 5 support folder and ‘viola’ Dorico 5 opened with no problem!

Thanks,

If you’re up and running now, John, I won’t look any further for the time being. If the problem recurs, please let me know.
