Dorico 6.0.20 Crashes When Importing MIDI into Template Project (Also Affects Empty Projects on Second Import)

Hi,

I’ve encountered a repeatable crash in Dorico 6.0.20 when importing MIDI files into projects created from templates. The crash also occurs in a completely empty project — not on the first MIDI import, but on the second attempt.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a project created from a saved template (with custom layout or playback settings),
    or create a brand new empty project.
  2. Go to File > Import > MIDI…and import any standard MIDI file (.mid)
  3. Try importing a second MIDI file (same or different) via the same method.
  4. Dorico crashes immediately.

System: macOS 15
Dorico version: 6.0.20

The issue occurs consistently across different MIDI files and templates.
