Dorico 6.1 update problem (Etude Elements not recognized)

I updated my Dorico 6 installation to Dorico 6.1 shortly after that update was first made available. Unfortunately, I keep running into an error message involving Etude Elements (image attached). Dorico says that the Etude Elements collection is missing. However, I did install it at the same time as Dorico 6.1, and it is listed in Steinberg Library Manager.

Playback does not seem to actually be missing in the updated Dorico. However, it is unclear to me whether the playback includes the new Etude Elements collection or not. How can I make sure that Dorico 6.1 recognizes Etude Elements so that I do not keep getting the error message?

A few of the steps in that procedure did not apply to me, so I had doubts that it would work. Fortunately, the Shift + click combination in Activation Manager alone was all that I needed to do. Apparently, the licensing issue mentioned there was the cause of the problem.

A small note about this fix, though - at least for me, playback for existing projects (which were upgraded to Dorico 6.1, obviously) was not automatically upgraded as well. I had to go to the Playback Template window and select Auto manually, as described in your reference. Of course, new projects get Auto (and Etude Elements) right away.

IIRC this was all by design and explained at the time of release.

Yes – Dorico 6.1 gives you the new instrument, but it doesn’t automatically use it in existing projects. This is the same way that Dorico handles most new features: they are left off for existing projects, so that nothing changes or breaks when you open an old project in a new version.
