Dorico 6.2.30 failing to load Iconic Opus - [GM 074] flute, example

Problem

When creating a brand-new score in Dorico (for example, a Solo Flute score), Dorico assigns:

[GM 074] Flute

inside HALion Sonic instead of assigning an orchestral sound from either:

  • Iconica Sections & Players
  • Iconica Ensembles
  • HALion Symphonic Orchestra

What has already been verified

Licensing

  • Dorico Pro 6 activated
  • Iconica Opus activated

Library Manager

Library Manager correctly lists:

  • Iconica Sections & Players
  • Iconica Ensembles
  • Iconica Sketch
  • HALion Symphonic Orchestra
  • HALion Sonic Factory Content

All libraries are registered successfully.

HALion Sonic

Standalone HALion Sonic can browse:

  • Iconica Sections & Players
  • Iconica Ensembles
  • Iconica Sketch

The libraries load correctly when selected manually.

Dorico Playback Templates

Playback Templates available are only:

  • Auto
  • HALion Sonic Selection
  • Silence

Auto is enabled in Preferences.

Default HALion plug-in is:

Use Best Available

Tests performed

Created a brand-new Solo Flute score.

Applied:

  • Auto playback template
  • HALion Sonic Selection playback template

In both cases HALion Sonic loads:

[GM 074] Flute

instead of an orchestral preset.

On another test, HALion Sonic loaded HALion Symphonic Orchestra Flute Combi, indicating playback assignments are inconsistent.

Diagnostics

Diagnostic report has been generated and is available.

Question

Why is Dorico assigning General MIDI instruments instead of Iconica Sections & Players or HALion Symphonic Orchestra when all libraries are installed, licensed, visible in HALion Sonic, and registered in Library Manager?

Is there a way to rebuild or restore the playback template mappings?

Please post the problematic Dorico file; you can remove the notes it you want, as all we need to see are the instrument assignments.

This is unusual. What do you see if you “Show all factory” in the Playback Template dialogue?

I don’t understand how your project got in this state. All your Strings are HSO, but all the other instruments come from the basic HSSE sound set. No factory playback template should do that.

You appear to have all the factory templates. What happens if you choose one of the Iconica Sketch templates and apply & close? Do the correct instruments load?

Actually, the Dorico logs say:
Missing content: SMT050EtudePresets.vstsound
Missing content: SonicAtomsNaviaHarpFE.vstsound

The first one is for Etude Elements, the second one I don’t know, but could be for Iconica.
So I would try to reinstall the Etude and Iconica libraries and see how it is then.

If still trouble, please post a fresh diagnostics report, please.

I I have not used Ionika, opus, nor the Hallon. I put the entire iconic opus on an external drive. I don’t see the templates that you were talking about. Thank you kindly for any help you can offer. I am a newbie to Dorico 6 coming from finale and StaffPad.

If you select the one above “silence”, then hit Apply and Close Dorico will apply it to your current project.
(When you installed Dorico, Halion and the sound libraries are automatically installed too)

You posted this screenshot initially—it’s under Play > Playback Template, and then Show All Factory.

@Janus is suggesting that you choose the next to last one, the one right above Silence.

I have selected the second last factory template and the orchestral template I choose has the correct instruments and staccato sound for all instruments.
Do you think I still need to reinstall Edude and Iconica libraries?
