I will definitely look into this. I was thinking about additional macro buttons such as a stream deck - but the time to move the hand to that would negate most benefits I’d imagine. So software macro’s are a great shout.
If you are on Windows, I would recommend Autohotkey. Been using it for years and cannot live without it. Mac users have other good options.
Thanks! Will checkout Autohotkey
Dynamics are just about the only reason I use a stream deck haha. If I know I’m going to have to do a lot of dynamics I usually save it toward the end and do a dynamics pass armed with the stream deck. I recommend using the already built streamdeck profile from notation express. Also if you don’t want to buy hardware, they recently released a virtual stream deck, buttons that you can park on your screen in a convenient area. I haven’t used it yet but in theory you could have it right there on your Dorico screen allowing you to enter complex dynamic macros that normally might require a handful of keystrokes, all in one button click.
edit: reading further, I think you do need to own hardware to have a license for the virtual stream deck. FYI they also make a mobile streamdeck app too, if you just want to get a taste.
Yes, you need the (or “a”) hardware. I believe it’s been like that from the start (I don’t think it’s “recently released”, I’m sure I knew about it for some time).
Though there are now “compatible hardware” instead of Elgato’s. Maybe that’s the more recent development.
I think it came out less than a year ago, which for me is recent - though for sure in the world of technology anything older than a week is ancient
I quit trying to keep up after a certain point, and think I only found out about this recently when Elgato sent a promo email.
Completely agree with OP. Great new changes in 6.2, but I hope this popover input behaviour can be restored to how it previously was, or have a toggle to set it to the old behaviour.
Especially when I wanted to change an existing dynamic, it was always very quick and convenient to double-click on it, type in a new one in the popover with the left hand, then click away to confirm it. Can’t do that anymore.
While it was not documented or indeed intentional behaviour, we will look into reinstating this in a future update.
Many thanks Daniel, appreciate it! Big fan of the Dorico team!
