You say staff expression, but I guess you enter it with the Tempo (Shift+T) popover and then it’s blue like this?
The blue here is just meaning that this item is “linked” to another one elsewhere (below in the score, or in the parts), since it’s a system-attached item. If you click somewhere else it should turn black.
However, if you want it to be red, select it, and in the Properties Panel, under Common, activate Color, click the black rectangle and choose the color you want.
(If you have Dorico 6, make sure you’ve got the very last update, since this feature was not properly working in previous versions, AFAIK.)
