When I SAVE my work, I get the spinning rainbow wheel… and it can remain for minutes (the last time was about 8 minutes). If I elect not to wait, I can force quite after which my file does re-open. And it seems my recent changes have been saved, so I’m not losing any work.
I’ve restarted my computer, but this doesn’t seem to change anything. There are similar post from 2024 and 2025, but they don’t appear to be quite the same. I’ve checked my activity monitor, and the VST isn’t hanging, up it’s Dorico… it says “not responding.”
I’ve attached the file where this is happening, but it happens on any large file.
I’m not an expert with these diagnostics, but it looks like your system has a problem saving to cloud storage. Does the file save normally to a local disk?
Ahhh… I see. I don’t remember setting the backup location, but it is located in my Synology system. It’s in-house, but still not local. I’m changing this right now to see if it makes a difference.
Just to say, yes, @Janus is right. In the Dorico logs are tons of lines like this:
2026-07-08 13:49:25.878 [info] Deleting old backup /Users/ddunning/Library/CloudStorage/SynologyDrive-OnDemand/Backup Projects/East of the Sun/2025-12-15 14-55-41_East of the Sun.dorico
