I upgraded to Dorico 5 from Dorico 4 less than a year ago (late September 2024). I seem to remember that there was some kind of grace period for people who had bought the previous version late in its cycle (as I’d personally missed it at the time). Any luck on this front with Dorico 6, and any idea how to get it?
Would LOVE to get a hold of that Proofreading panel for as cheaply as possible, since I’m in the final stages of a large, important project (my chamber opera!!!) and famously awful at proofreading.
The grace period is a month, sadly.
In fairness, if you came from Finale, you already got Dorico at a massive discount ($430 off!!), and you’ve had the use of it for 8 months. You’re getting loads of features and fixes for a very reasonable amount. (The number and scale of features is more than Finale delivered in the last 10 years!)
The good news is that you’ll then be “in sync” with the Dorico releases, and you’ll get around two years of updates before the next paid version.
You could use the 60 days trial to finish your work and see for yourself if it’s a good investment for you.
