When I double-clicked on a .dorico file today, it opened in an app called Dorcio SE which I do not have on my computer. It is an orchestral piece and so I got a notice saying that I would not be able to edit it. So I quit the app, opened Dorico app from the Applications folder, and then opened the file again and all was in order. My question: why did this happen?
Could it be you did hold the Command-key while double-clicking? (Assuming Mac, windows is Ctrl, I think).
Dorico Pro, Elements and SE are basically the same application, only the license differ. Holding different modifiers it’s possible to open the App as SE or Elements if you wish
Did you have SE previously? If so, you could deactivate your SE license in the Activation Manager (SAM) so Dorico would be more likely to use Elements or Pro.
I’ve never had SE, but every now and again this also happens to me…it’s just a little inexplicable quirk. I just quit and reboot and it is normally fine again.
No, I double-clicked a .dorico file.
No, I’ve never had SE.
Yes, this is what I did too. Still, I find it odd that I would double-click a .dorico file and this app would open. I often double-click a .dorico file in the Finder and this has never happened to me before.
Yes you do have it. Dorico Pro can launch as either SE or Elements if hold a modifier key during launch.
(I would be suspecting some keyboard fault)
