Just paid for the Dorico 6 SE to Elements upgrade. Payment went through. I was mailed my new upgrade code.
Opened Steinberg Download Assistant and redemmed the code. No errors.
All I see in the My Products section is the previous Dorico 6.2.20 Application Installer which came with Cubase 15 Pro. No sign of an Elements installer even when I specifically select Dorico Elements 6 in the left hand panel.
I run that installer again. It completes apparently without errors.
I run the only Dorico 6 icon I can find on the system in the Steinberg Dorico start menu.
It still loads my pre-upgrade Dorico 6 SE version. And when it loads it offers me to pay for the upgrade I just paid for.
Been round this loop several times now without success.
How do I get my new Dorico 6 Elements I just paid for to install and work please?
SledDriver, go (online) to your My Steinberg account, log into it using the email address you used for the upgrade (in case you use several email addresses). Under “Products” you can see whether your Elements Version is activated:
To add to what @k_b has said, downloading the latest version of Dorico in and of itself will not change your results, as the program itself is the same download for all versions. It is the activation of the new license that changes what you see.
In addition to activating your Elements license, you may want to deactivate (at least temporarily) your SE license.
Aha. I had done the download manager bit, but not the activation manager bit.
Although quite honestly, it wouldn’t hurt Steinberg to add a few lines of code to the SDM to point you straight at the SAM after a new purchase and download.
It might be obvious to Steinberg who use it every day, but it wasn’t obvious to me, even though I’ve been with Steinberg products over 20 years.
Anyway Dorico Elements now attemps to start, so that’s good.
What’s not good is that the download/installation manager failed to install required components, so now I have to sort that out. Poor show Steinberg.
The whole process works very well for most of the users (I estimate 99%). I don’t know how you ended up in the situation. It is possible the components were not completely downloaded the first time you started your installation. Maybe distracted by some other computer activity? There are reasons this might have happened, but luckily the instructions are very clear to you now and you will be able to use your software soon.
