Dorico 6 Pro user here. I use Halion Sonic for sounds, and have some templates saved that I have been using on Dorico 5. My ensemble is small - trumpet, saxes, trombone, piano. When I’m in write mode, I can’t hear sounds properly with Play (P) or as I enter them. Trumpet sounds are very staccato and quiet, the saxophone is so short that it sounds like a slap-tongue, and the same with the trombone. I have increased all the volumes on channels and main as well as in the Sonic player. Still, almost unusable.
I’ve checked all the basics like audio setup, expression maps, and so forth. Nothing I do will make the music sound like music, so I can listen to it as I work. All I get is tiny little staccato blips that are nearly inaudible.
This was a bit of a pain with Dorico 5, but I got over it with that version.

When I opened your file, it played back with all notes sounding at the notated duration.
I also noticed that underneath some bars there is a very low note being played for a few seconds. This can often happen with some playback templates because of keyswitches in a MIDI import.
Regarding notes playing very short, the following might not apply in your situation, but here is a quote from one of my posts from some time ago (at about the time of the Dorico 5.1 update) when I experienced the same:
I had the same playback results as what you described. It was caused by my having downloaded and installed Iconica Sketch as soon as it became available, that is, a couple of weeks (if my memory is correct) before the Dorico 5.1 update. I thought that I would be really clever and use this new functionality early. Well, I wasn’t really that clever as it turns out.
I assume that the Dorico 5.1 update also included the expression map for Iconica Sketch, because playback using Iconica Sketch worked properly after I had installed the Dorico 5.1 update, including Iconica Sketch.

Since I didn’t install it as you described, I don’t think this situation applies. This has only been happening since installing version 6 of Pro. I have made sure everything is updated to the best of my knowledge.
