Hello,
I have upgraded to Dorico 6 (there are some great new features btw) but I am having difficulties with Vienna Saxophones in that D6 it is not finding the sound sets. correct location.
Something is rattling around in my memory that says I need to point Dorico to the location of my saxophone sounds.
I’ve attached a temp D6 file with just an Alto Sax for example.
I’m guessing this is a Vienna Assistant problem rather than a Dorico problem. As long as everything is configured correctly in Vienna Assistant, the Synchron Player should automatically find the sounds. I would double-check this path is set correctly and the files are actually installed there (yours will almost certainly be in a different location than mine, as mine are on an external drive, but you know what I mean):
Thanks for your help. I went to Vienna Assistant and updated the Synchron Play, just in case that was the issue, but still no joy. The player is on my iMac Studio, but the sound samples are, like yours, on an external drive. The Synchron player that opens points to the correct location, but is not picking up the files.
I tried opening a new project in Dorico 5, which I haven’t deleted yet and there is the same issue. Something has thrown the VSL files a bit awry.
Attached is the screenshot of the Synchron Player with the path to my external drive.
OK, I’ve sorted it! The problem, as you would expect, was entirely mine.
As I was working away from my desk for the last week, I have moved the iLok from my desk computer to my MacBook and I forgot to change it back, so the license was all screwed up.
An easy fix and alarmingly, not the first time I’ve forgotten to do this…
