Dorico 7 when? đŸ€Ș

OK, Dorico 6 is all nice and good but when can we expect Dorico 7? I want [insert obscure niche features here].

Just kidding. Take your time to celebrate the latest release, you’ve deserved it.

I should write the reply that came to mind before I opened the thread

I know exactly what you mean, OP
both halves! I don’t see a contradiction between them. But I’ll try version 6 before making requests for version 7. Who knows, maybe some of those requests will make their way into version 6.1 first! (Maybe that’s what we should really be asking about.)

I made a bet with myself that we would see posts basically complaining “Never mind X, where’s Y?”. And while empty vessels make the most noise, there hasn’t been much of that here, at least. (If not on other corners of the internet).

I think it’s a fantastic release, and does exactly what Dorico set out to do: make things easier for the user.

PS: You might want to add an emoji to the title, just to cool off expectations

Oh, no, not again: I purchased Dorico 5 in July 1984 and waited until this 26 march to activate it and I don’t qualify for the grace period for 6. If I knew I would have waited another 41 years.

You’re untroubled by Dorico not being able to handle ties, slurs etc. into second-time bars after eight and a half years?

You think anyone complaining would be being unreasonable?

Honestly I’m completely un-troubled by the issue you mentioned. It’s not a significant problem for me.

There is an executive I know who opens certain conversations always with the same set of questions:

  1. Are you responsible for the application itself?
  2. Are you responsible for the app’s budget?
3 Are you responsible for the app’s personnel?
  3. Do you get called in the middle of the night etc. to fix things when something goes wrong?
  4. Are you required to take responsibility for the risks/ make attestations regarding the apps security, legalities, etc.?

I always thought he gave wise advice about remembering which side of those questions you are on - even if you are being paid for your expertise.
