Dorico crashed! I lost about 2 hours worth of work. Where do I find back-up?
Dorico has two different mechanisms to help preserve your work.
Backups are created every time you save your project. You can find them under the folder specified in Preferences > General > Files > Project backup folder.
Autosaves are saved periodically to the AutoSave folder under your Dorico config folder — /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 6 on Mac and c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Dorico 6 on Windows. But they’re deleted if Dorico exits normally. If there are autosave versions still there, you should be prompted by Dorico when you next start Dorico.
You can also check in your recycle bin for backups and autosaves that have been deleted.
I looked for backup file and there isn’t one from todays work.
And there is not an Autosave file from todays work either.
Hi @sttrumpet, can you show the page in Preferences>General>Files?:
I checked both places and todays work is not there
You did say that you lost 2 hours of work — did you save at all when you were working today? If you did, then there should be a backup.
Did you check in the recycle bin as well?
I restarted my computer and optimized. In doing so, optimizing automatically empties the recycling bin.
