Hello everyone, Dorico crashed on me pretty hard the other day. I couldn’t open some sessions. I tried deleting prefs, etc. I reinstalled Dorico from the Steinberg Manager. It opened last night, but today it’s not opening at all. It crashes on startup. I also tried using Axtivity Monitor to close the VSt engine. No luck. Frustrating. Any ideas?
Without diagnostic reports, screen shots of error messages, or a sample project file you might be trying to open, finding a solution will be difficult.
how do I take diagnostic reports?
Help > Create Diagnostic Report … but you have to be able to get Dorico open, even just the Hub.
Hi @future-relics ,
if you can’t even get to the Dorico Hub window, then please try to create such diagnostic report by means of my attached script file.
I don’t know how familiar you are with the Terminal.app, in short this is what you need to do:
- Download and unpack my script
- Clear the extended attributes on the unzipped file
- Open a Terminal window and drag and drop my script and hit enter/return
- Post the resulting Dorico6DiagnosticReport.zip from your Desktop in a reply here.
Thanks

Thank you! This is all great to know. After two days, Dorico now seems to be loading and working as normal. Not sure what the deal was or why it started working again. But glad it did.
