When I start Dorico 5 on my M2 Mac and leave it sitting there on the opening menu and not doing any activity at all on the M2, Dorico sometimes crashes (emphasis on SOMETIMES) after 15-20 minute with no other programs running. I don’t recall this ever happening when working within Dorico. Hopefully someone can give me an insight as to what the problem is.
There are a couple of audio engine crashes related to the SINE Player; this is the familiar problem with plug-ins based on the JUCE framework that crash on exit.
The Dorico crashes themselves are curious. It looks to my semi-trained eye that Dorico is trying to communicate with the audio engine about a change in MIDI input devices, and something is going wrong. I’ll send the logs to @Ulf in case he has any ideas or has seen this before.
Thanks Daniel. I can imagine Dorico searching for what audio engines are out there for it to use. Indeed I use a lot of SINE player libraries and have indeed experience several crashes on exiting Dorico, but after the project has been saved but this crashing before any project has been loaded in somewhat new to me. Will be interested in knowing if @Ulf has any ideas. I wonder what other audio engines are using the JUCE besides OT.
Unfortunately I also have hardly an idea,
It looks like that: Around noon Sept. 23rd you loaded a project and then you let Dorico idling for roughly 9 hours where nothing happened except for the usual AutoSave. Then at 20:53 suddenly from the audio engine comes the notification that a MIDI device has changed. This notification Dorico does not like and therefore chrashes. I know that we have an issue with plugging and unplugging MIDI devices very quickly it also crashes in the same way. I will also involve Bernd S. since the client implementation crashes here. Let’s wait what he has to say.
Thank you Ulf for looking at this. This very odd as Dorico was sitting there and I wasn’t anywhere near the M2 or plugging/unplugging any devices whatsoever. I have recently had an issue with all kinds of RJ45/audio/USB/Thunderbolt connectors becoming oxidized and causing intermittent havoc-it’s the rainy season here. I have fixed this problem for the most part by spraying deOxit on all these connectors and this seems to have fixed that problem. However, I have NOT done this yet to any of my MIDI devices yet. That needs to be done next. I will be most interested to see what Bernd S has to say. Thanks very much for looking at this.
