Sometime I write 2-3 Irish tunes (2-3 flows) on the same page. I have a template setup to divide the the page into 2 music frames. When I manually unlink the frame contents to assign a frame to a specific tune/flow, Dorico automically and annoyingly tries to insert more pages at the end with auto-linked music frames. This is annoying for printing and PDF exporting. How can I stop Dorico from creating the unnecessary extra page? Or at least, how can I delete it? Thanks!
The second page here is auto-created by Dorico. Page 1 (with the unlinked frames) is all I want in this document.
You do not need multiple music frames at all, just set the Layout Options>Page Setup>Flows to allow more than one flow on a page.
(There are a number of tutorials on using Music Frames - I suggest you watch them)
Hey Janus! Appreciate the response. I’ll look at that. The reason I haven’t used that feature is that I’m really particular about the positioning of the tunes on the page. These frames are positioned to be evenly divided and measured to the pixel dimensions of the page.
I feel like I tried your method and wasn’t crazy about what Dorcio was giving me - but I’ll definitely take another look at it. Thanks.
In which case you need only two frames on your Page Template (both in the chain MA with the second being Index 2)
Something like this…
The point is that using separate chains as well as separate flows is overkill. The separate flows will be enough, and one can use frame breaks to keep each flow within its own frame.
Yeah splitting music frames is not the best solution here. You can specify all sorts of padding and margin values to get what you want with just one frame.
Following up. Thanks for the advice here. Totally changing my templates and workflow for the better. Appreciate the help and group wisdom.
