I’ve used Finale (and only Finale) for ten years now. Mostly creating charts for musicians. I like having flexibility with chords and the ability to add rhythm cues. I have some specific requirements - but, I feel my use-case is fairly conventional.
Finale was more difficult for me to learn. Navigating in Finale was like creating trails in very tall grass - 7 feet tall grass. Dorico’s grass is about 3 feet with pre-laid trails. It’s just easier to see things - do things - in Dorico.
There are things about Dorico that I’m not fond of - but, I could hardly complain considering just how cryptic Finale tended to be (for me). That said - I believe it’s fair to say that Finale is indeed more flexible than Dorico. My music needs are mostly satisfied with Dorico.
I should add that I haven’t begun importing Finale projects into Dorico. I’m expecting this to be a lot of work to fix things.
