I have some files in Documents (on Mac, user/iCloud Drive(Archive), folder generated automatically, not in the cloud) and other files in iCloud/Dorico (the default folder).
I was trying to import endpoint configurations and I realized they were in another folder.
I think it shouldn’t be like this and that I need to fix it.
Most of the files that you’ve shown are usually located in {user}/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5.
This is where your settings, saved options, user templates and the application log files are stored.
The Backup Projects are normally located in your default project folder. The location for both the Default Project Folder and Backup folder can be set in Preferences > Files.
The “iCloud Drive (Archive)” folder is usually created when you turn off iCloud. The OS asks you if you want to create a local copy of the files, and that’s where they go.
For some reason, it looks like your user settings files have been copied to iCloud, and then you’ve signed out of iCloud.
As far as I know, Dorico can only read config files from the user Library, so these files are probably copies that can be deleted.
Make sure you have a backup of all files that you want to keep. (iCloud Drive is not a backup.)
I have my files (Songs, backups) on icloud Drive as it syncs with the tablet version of Dorico.
I also have some Keycommads, preferences, etc in this folder that I may have added to translate between tablet and computer . Maybe these are redundant.
Also, I cant see where the Playback Templates are stored. Anyb help with this.
Also please @dspreadbury@Lillie_Harris can you please confirm this?
Can i safely delete the iCloud Archive folder?
nothing else is being saved there?
Please don’t “invoke the gods” – they read everything on this forum in their own time, so they’ll get round to it.
I could be wrong, but I’m not sure you can access the preference files on the iPad version, e.g. in the Files.app. Can you?
They should be in a subfolder of {user}/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5.
You can delete anything, if you have a backup.
I would suggest that the “essential”, working versions of all those preference files will be the ones in the user Library subfolders. Any other versions are just additional copies.
Yes, sorry but this thread has been open for a while.
I can only see Playback TemplateSpecs and the files have a .xml extension.
My understaing is that playback templates have a .dorico_pt extension.
The best thing to do is to make sure that Dorico on your Mac has all the correct options, preferences, key commands, playback templates, etc, etc; and then delete all the additional copies in other locations.
