Hey everybody. I had this issue with Dorico for iPad 5 already and hoped it would be better with v 6.
When using some SWAM instruments on my iPad Pro with m4 processor it starts to get heavy dropouts and sometimes even doesn’t play back. I know that SWAM string sections are heavy on CPU. But on Cubasis I can load a full romantic orchestra of swam without problems. Also on my previous MacBook with m1 processor I could easily load a full romantic orchestra.
For me this is a really big issue, because one of the main reasons I bought the iPad Pro was to use it with SWAM instruments in Dorico. So if that does not work, the live time subscription for Dorico, the iPad Pro and all of the swam instruments wouldn’t be something I had necessarily been purchased… that is of course my very own problem. But since Dorico for iPad uses the same Audio engine than the desktop versions I never thought it could be a problem.
Might it be that I have settings that cause the problem? I don’t know if there could be something to find for the team.

Dorico for iPad uses the same audio engine as Cubasis, not the same audio engine as the desktop version. I’m not sure what could account for such a big performance differential between Dorico for iPad and Cubasis, but we will look into it.

Thank you for looking into it
Also sometimes the SWAM instruments get unloaded within a session or don’t load after re opening a session. In both cases it happens without any changes in the project. Just during playback. I don’t know if this is in the diagnostic report
The problem with the glitches is solved.
Even though the Multicore processing was activated I had to deactivate and then reactivate it. Now it works as expected.
O.k. While I found a solution for the original issue, it gets a little bit annoying somewhere else. and it really is everything but a joy to work with the iPad and AU plugins.
- Every now and then I get glitches heavy noise. I then have to repeat the process above by unchecking and then checking Multicore processing
- sometimes not every instruments load. They are displayed as loaded, but they aren’t ant they play no sound. (See screenshot)
- Very often the project I work on disappears from the „last projects“ page. This also is really annoying.
Maybe there is something in this report. This is serious issue to me. Any help is much appreciated.
