After importing a MIDI file, Dorico shows the resulting sheet and it looks import is success. However, when I try to save it, Dorico freezes and I have to force quit. Even with very simple MIDI file like this. I wonder what’s wrong…
Dorico Pro 5.1.81.2225
I’ve changed the Audio Device Setup to Internal Audio but the problem persists. Newly created file without MIDI also freezes Dorico on saving and even closing without saving.
I tried to change Default playback template from NotePerformer to HALion, but Dorico freezes and I cannot change it.
Editing existing files and saving doesn’t seem to freeze Dorico and it looks OK, but when I quit Dorico (intentionally), I get problem report of unexpected quit.
I tried to upload the Diagnostics, but it has been refused because it’s too big (more than 7MB).
BTW, I searched for “diagnostic” in the manual but couldn’t find anything. That’s not good I have to say…
A while ago I tried to update Dorico to 5.1.81 using Steinberg Download Assistant and got an error massage. Something went wrong. After failed update, Dorico couldn’t save any new files, coudn’t playback any sound from existing files, etc.
Then I trashed Dorico and related preferences etc. using App Cleaner and reinstalled it using downloaded installer. Creating new sheets and playback with HALion became possible again.
However, NotePerformer still didn’t work and appeared as !!NotePerformer!! in track inspector. It became normal after
Going to Dorico > Preferences > VST Plug-ins
and selecting Clear Audio Engine Cache and restart Dorico.
It looked to be normal again, but I may have missed something then.
Now I tried to reinstall Dorico. At first Steinberg Download Assistant said it couldn’t be updated, and I downloaded the installer for the Assistant and reinstalled Dorico with reinstalled Assistant.
Now Dorico is more unstable and unresponsive – I cannot input notes via MIDI keyboard (I can with computer keyboard, but I can’t save the file).
Hi @o211 , please send the DoricoDiagnostics.zip directly via e-mail to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de. That will give me a first overview and I can then come back with further advice. Thanks
Dorico got back to normal after reinstalling NotePerformer following Ulf’s advice.
Probably something went wrong between Dorico and NotePerformer during the update failure, trashing and reinstalling process of Dorico.
