Trying to open a big uncompressed musicxml 4 file generated with latest Finale. Dorico starts crunching, using allmost all the resource of M3Max processor. Open file dialog stays at 57% for a quarter. I hear my MBP fans getting in action. After closing the file open dialog Dorico still keeps using almost all processor resource. Quit from the menu doesnt help. Force quit only.
Finale opened the same musicxml file in a minute (while Dorico was still crunching something and using the resource).
I think only someone @Steinberg would be able to say why this is happening. Plenty of CPU resource, 36GB RAM shoould also be sufficient. Seems like a bug.
Have you tried opening it with MuseScore? (I only use MuseScore for that, it can solve problems with xml files. And it’s free…)
I know I earn time with my xmls coming from Photoscore ultimate, for instance.
I open those in MuseScore, then export them (mxl) and use that in Dorico.
