Dorico hängt sich beim Start auf

Hallo,
Thomas Miller

Translation (DeepL):

Hello,
Dorico 6.2 freezes during startup. The following message appears on the startup screen: “Wait for audio engine initialization” and then: “The audio engine is taking longer than expected, etc.” After clicking “Quit,” the following message appears: “Dorico cannot connect to the audio engine. The application will now be closed.” What can I do?
Best regards,
Thomas Miller

When you have time, don’t click quit. Sometimes the wait is not very long altogether.

When Dorico exits like this, it creates a file called Dorico Diagnostics.zip on your desktop. Attach it here so we can take a look at it: hopefully it will give us a clue what is going on.

Thank you. I have waited and it works. But last long. How can I attach Dorico Diagnostics.zip?

You can reply to the thread and use this icon

Or just drag the file in the text box

Hi! Students of mine got the same error.

Attached you find one diagnostics file.

Thanks for your help!

best, Hannes

Hi @Hannes_Kerschbaumer , is that consistently happening?

Because from the logs in this case I can see that the operator shut down Dorico and then almost immediately started up again. Then Dorico thinks that the audio engine is already running where in fact it is still in the process of shutdown. And then it is really gone and Dorico has no audio engine to talk to and also quits (before throwing that alert).

In Dorico 6 we changed Dorico’s behaviour in that it now waits until the audio engine really stops, so this kind of race condition can’t happen any more.
