Dorico has created random layouts and parts cannot be seen in Engrave

Hello again, I just felt I was getting a certain comfort level with Dorico Pro 6.1 and then… I had been working on an arrangement for several hours in Write mode only, using a Template that I had created and used without issue )and in my Setup I have 6 players, each with a single instrument). I selected Engrave to prepared the parts for PDF Printing. However (and I have no idea how or why this happened), when I went to Engrave, there are 7 or 8 random Layouts to choose from, but none of them are any of the 6 players (there are several combinations, and one empty part).

  1. How can I restore the Layouts to be the Full Score and the 6 individual Parts?
  2. Any idea how this happened so I can avoid having this occur in the future?

All help greatly appreciated; thanks!

Go into Setup mode then
Setup (menu) > Create Default Part Layouts.

HI Steven, Thanks for the prompt reply. I was able to do that, and then delete all of the random parts. Any idea how/why/when this happened so I can avoid a future occurrence?

If it was me I would guess that, among other possibilities, I had probably unchecked boxes in the Layouts list on the righthand side and/or selected one (or more) and pressed Delete, and maybe even created some odd layouts by clicking on the icons at the bottom of the Layouts list.

Unfortunately, no. I hadn’t even opened the Layout tab. I was strictly arranging in Write mode.

You must have made changes in Setup mode. There’s simply no other way that you could end up with layouts that have non-default combinations of players and flows included.
