Suddenly my Dorico 5 refuses to play back any file at all. Preferences are correct, as is Device setup, Template is still Note Performer, which worked fine yesterday.
YouTube plays back ok, so the computer’s audio is OK, no changes at all. Sibelius also plays back fine, with Note Performer.
I just tried reinstalling both Dorico and Note Performer. No difference, still no sound at all. Editing works fine, just no sound.
Help!!!
Probably the Staff will ask for the Diagnostics. Create this from the Help menu and click Create Diagnostic Report and post it here.

This is probably the most common question on this forum. Somewhere there is a topic about troubleshooting steps you can try, and there is also a video on youtube I think.
Just right this minute I can’t find these links, but I am sure others will post them here for you. I’ll have a look when I have a minute.
@dspreadbury that audio troubleshooting topic page ought to be a pinned post, as this issue is so common. Also, there should be some sort of topic template for audio issues so that users can put in platform, versions, and audio hardware and interfaces details, without members having to ask in each post. I am not sure why 90% plus of posts about this fail to mention these helpful details, but that’s the way it is.

thanks for the diagnostics. In the Dorico preferences you have under Play > Advanced Options chosen to enable WinRT. Did you do that recently or is that already for a long itme? What if you switch that off again, does then sound come out of Dorico again?
Second, what if you use FlexASIO as sound driver? You can download and install it for free from https://github.com/dechamps/FlexASIO/releases/download/flexasio-1.9/FlexASIO-1.9.exe
I wonder if that would make any difference.

the most information of what you mention we can retrieve from the diagnostics report, that’s why we are always asking about the diagnostics first, because it gives us the best initial overview.
All the preferences and device config have not changed, they worked for years, up to 2 days ago, but stopped yesterday for some reason. Audacity, DP and Sibelius all use the same configuration and they all still have sound as usual.
I need Dorico for my work so it’s a huge problem for me!
John Barron suggested various things to check, all ok.
Where are the advanced play options? In any case, I have made no changes in months.
That link to flex audio does not lead anywhere.

Problem solved, it was a driver issue. The new Steinberg Built-in ASIO driver did the trick.
Odd that this happened out-of-the-blue, overnight.
Was there some automatic update of something that happened without the OP noticing that could have caused this?
He does say that nothing in his computer has changed to his knowledge.
