Dorico installation Qs

Greetings.
Finale refugee here. Have been lurking in the forum for a couple of weeks now. I haven’t purchased Dorico, but getting close to making the jump. I have a couple of basic installation Qs. I tried the “FAQ: New users start here” topic on the forum, but the links to Dorico help render a “bad request” error and I can’t access the Dorico help. Not a good introduction for a potential new customer. Also did a search on the forum, but didn’t find my Qs or As.

That said, here’s my install questions for Dorico Pro.

  1. With Finale, I could run it on two computers using my license. This was super handy, as I used it on both my laptop and desktop machines. Is Dorico limited to one computer only, or can I run it on both?
  2. A friend is a Sibelius user, and due to Avid’s licensing limitations wherein he must be connected to the internet to validate his license each time he runs it, there’s an obvious problem for times when he has no internet connection, and hence cannot use Sibelius without an internet connection. Does Dorico have this limitation?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

  1. You can have 3 installations authorised.
  2. Once it’s done, I don’t think there’s a need to be connected.

As for the bad links: they have recently revised the Help pages, and it’s possible that the link in the old FAQ hasn’t been updated.

Welcome to the Forum

You are allowed to activate Dorico on up to three computers at the same time. That is done easily via the Activation Manager.

No, you can even run without a network connection at all. The license engine is running complete locally, except for activating the license.

You can even activate machines that will never get a internet connection, by creating so called “Offline Licenses”.

Thanks, everyone! Appreciated.
