Hi. I have an empty vocal line for several systems. The bars before the vocal came in hid perfectly. But those after the vocal finishes aren’t hiding. I can’t manually remove or hide the empty staffs either. I have attached it below in the hope someone can help. The problem occurs at bar/measure 48. Thank you!
If you select the lyric syllable “way!” in b.42, you can see in the status bar that it says “Bars 42-87”. That’s the clue to what’s going on here - the lyric syllable is much too long. The extender line won’t draw over all those rests, but as far as Dorico is concerned those bars still aren’t empty.
Just delete and re-enter that lyric syllable.
Thanks Richard. I must have pressed the space bar after entering ‘way’ - which would have sent it flying off to the next lyric entry at the end of the piece!
I seem to be having a different version of this problem.
In order to get the word extension for the baritone, I have to press the space bar when at the quaver (eighth) B flat. The cursor then jumps to the next note for the baritone, which is several systems later. This seems to make it impossible to hide the baritone stave in the intervening systems. I strongly suspect that I’m missing something, but if not I think I may have found a workaround by temporarily replacing the rest with a note.
Is there something else I should be doing so that this ‘ghost’ of the word Time (or at least its word extension) is not travelling through the systems?
This problem recurs in a number of places in the particular piece, which is my first serious effort in Dorico after Finale. I suspect I’m missing something simple.
