Dorico is slow to respond when trying to stop playback

Hi there

I recently upgraded to Dorico6. I am composing a large-scale band piece.

When I press stop in playback, Dorico won’t stop and keeps playing. It also loses the green playback pointer. Then when it stops, the wheel spins for 15-20 seconds.

I am on a mac 8MB Ram Ventura 13.78 2.3 Gh processor.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also is there a way to increase the cache for dorico6?

8 MB ist quite few :wink:

Yes, it’s likely a storage problem, either RAM or the HD/SSD to load the samples.
In Activity Monitor.app look at the page outs /swap used in the Memory tab. Is it quite high (MB range) then you run out of RAM and swapping to disk can be rather slow.

Your answer helped. I guess after a certain size opening a large file from a storage drive will cause this issue. I copied it to the desktop then opened it and the issue went away.
