I’m putting together a worksheet. I set up a template with individual text boxes and score boxes for each flow (like the old worksheet tutorial on YouTube) - three text boxes and three score boxes per page.
Started populating each page with the appropriate flows by selecting the option to display “Selected Flows” in each score box.
However, I found after my four pages, another eight appeared. There doesn’t seem to be an option to remove these extra pages, and if I delete each frame on the page manually, another page appears at the end. I’m now up to 14 extra pages. It’s like The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
“Remove page overrides” won’t do the trick, because none of these extra pages have the little red triangle - only the four pages I actually want to keep!
Other than exporting the first four pages to a PDF, any ideas what I can do?
So, I’ve played around with your file a little. I think the issue has to do with how you have frames set up, frame chains and selected. I have yet to venture into the world of using different types of frames or defining different frame chains so maybe someone with a solid understanding of frames can help.
Yeah I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that the way you’ve set it up is, as you’ve found out, not ideal. The good news is it’s easily accomplished using just one music frame.
I’ll work on this for a sec and see what I can do.
Basically, it’s all one music frame, and no overrides anywhere. If you’re going to make a change to a page, change the page template, and use flow tokens to populate your headers.
Hi @consistently, as I saw you posted the file, I run to re-make it using only the default page templates (with one Music Frame Chain, as @dan_kreider suggested) as an exercise for myself.
Only then I realised that @dan_kreider posted his “start” version.
Anyway, since I did it, I post it here below, in case it could be of further help.
In the project attached below, you will find your original layout (Full Score 1.) and my re-made layout (Full Score 2.).
The power of dorico is that each layout can use a different Page Template set (and for the remakes Full Score 2. I imported a Dorico default Full Score page template)
I remade your project with the exact same measurements that you used for the first page fames (editing the First page template, of course).
You will see that Dorico automatic handling of Flow Headings spacings from staff is much more consistent then your manual workflow (see for example your flow 1 and 2, where the flow titles have different distances from the music).
And generally, using one Music Frame Chain for this situation you save yourself much headache; which is really not necessary, because the true power of Dorico is handling complex layouts automatically, and using global options if you need to adapt the look.
You could further customising the the Flow Heading top/bottom margins in Layout Options, or, if you need to correct single flow titles spacings, using Flow Heading overrides (which I didn’t use).
