Writing a large ensemble piece with default condensing rules aside from the fact that I changed it so that mid-phrase unisons are prevented. For most of the piece the condensing works fine, but in the first image, the flutes do not condense for whatever reason despite there being insufficient qualities to prevent it from condensing, and on the second image, it does not happen for the flutes or oboes. This is the only time that this happens throughout the piece; on many other pages, the condensing is functioning as normal. How can I fix this?
For the second image, you need to allow pitch crossing: in the third bar of the screenshot Flute 2 is pitched higher than Flute 1 and Oboe 2 is pitched higher than Oboe 1.
For the first image: what happens after the end of that screenshot? Dorico makes one condensing decision per phrase, where phrases are (must be) punctuated by a rest in both/all instruments within the condensing group. The fact that the end of that screenshot may be the end of a system doesn’t negate that fact.
You can force a new phrase, and thus a new decision, by adding a Condensing Change that has nothing ticked apart from the relevant Condensing Group, if need be.
