Dorico not hiding staves for 2 not in use instruments of a player

I’m engraving a score where the percussionist has a staff for drums, Glockenspiel and a custom 5-line staff percussion kit.
For the first flow and the first 80 measures of the second one it only shows the instrument that actually contains notes, displaying 2 of them when necessary. This is good.
But for some reason it suddenly stops doing this for two pages and then goes back to normal.

I’ve already made sure that those staves are empty where they should be. There is no manual staff visibility change nor condensing in the whole project. Almost all other players have multiple instruments but I’m having no problem with those.

I’m using Dorico 6.1.10.6078
Help??

Could you share the file? You can pm it to me if you prefer.

Problematic file 26-08-03.dorico (1.6 MB)

I was looking for the instructions on how to crop a file because this is for work and I’m not sure how much I can share. But this should be ok.

You don’t have hide empty staves on the file you sent me.

But I guess it shouldn’t be needed with instrument changes.

Would this setting help?

I don’t want empty staves to be hidden and that’s why I don’t have it activated. I just need it to do the instrument change.

Sadly changing the instrument change do “before first note in new instrument” doesn’t even affect the problematic section and it also creates more problems in the rest of the score.

If I remember correctly, someone had a similar problem recently. One way is to allow hide empty staves and exclude all instruments except the percussion.

Maybe someone else has a better solution. Sorry.

I think it’s related to the two simultaneous perc./glock. notes in bar 14, which prevent the instrument change from working properly. You can notice that after the last drumset note, Dorico doesn’t display a change warning — I imagine that’s because it needs to indicate a single instrument, but the next note is played by two instruments at the same time.

Quick test:

Yes, I had the same though. Deleting one of them works.

Jesper

My solution above ought to work, though.

Jesper

Curiously it does work fine on the other flow I have. (Not included in the upload.)

Do they also play at the exact same time?

Jesper

If you move a note one beat.

Yes, it does. Thank you.

Strange, at least we found a way it seems.

Jesper

Yes, they do.
