Dorico not launching help please!

after a reboot i am getting “launching steinbert acctivation manager” which seems to want me to activate dorico, i have been using dorico 4 for a while. if i start the activation manager it just hangs and does not use an cpu.

Perhaps try restarting a second time. Occasionally my computer will restart but everything doesn’t load properly. It’s rare, but it does happen.

You could also open the Steinberg download manager, which would update the activation manager automatically if there is a newer version. This might help too.

I got this earlier tonight. I ended up resolving it by entering my download code and reactivating my upgrade license (even though, in activation manager it said my 3.5 license was non-upgradable). It took a moment, but the issue was resolved after that.

I have the same problem. I have followed all the instructions in the thread you directed to. What would be the next step? Enter some codes again? I am sure I did that one month ago when I started with Dorico so it does not seem likely that I have been running on a trial license.

I managed to solve this after all. My upgrade from 3.5 to 4 had to be activated through the old licenser instead of the new Activation Manager.
I used the download access code, entering it into the section of “elicenser products” in my account, and after the site launching the old elicenser going through that routine, everything worked again.

So my problem was that I missed the fact that I had to use the Elicenser.

Hello!

Long time lurker, first time poster. Bernhard called into our support line today and we tried a few things that resulted in a working activation manager!

Here’s what we did:

  1. Uninstall SAM
  2. Rename the activation manager folder in the following location to xActivation Manager: Windows: %appdata%\Steinberg\Activation Manager
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Activation Manager
  3. Disable and AV
  4. Download latest update and install: https://o.steinberg.net/index.php?id=15263&L=1
  5. Launch SAM

Hopefully this helps with anyone else still stuck! The update alone did not work in Bernhard’s case.
