I’m having a big problem here with Dorico Pro 6. It won’t open anymore!!! When I go to the Steinberg Download Assistant, I can’t even see if there’s an update available because this window pops up, forces me to close all other applications, and won’t go away. Then another error window appears… My version of the SDA is 1.39.3. I’ve never encountered this bug before and have always been able to work fine in Dorico. What’s going on? This is urgent—I need to finish a project for a client today!

First thing what I would try is to reboot your computer, after that try to start Dorico and se what happens
BUT it’s impossible to open my last project that I’ve been working on on my laptop. I uploaded it to my PC, and now a popup window tells me my dorico project has an invalid format… For goodness sake!
If you didn’t disable autosave, a popup should appear enabling to recover any unsaved work.
If you did explicitely saved your project at some time, the last 5 versions should be available in the Backup Projects folder
I finally found the solution 
Yesterday, while I was working on my project, there was a power surge caused by a thunderstorm. I think that has something to do with my problem. Luckily, I remembered there was a “backups” folder, and I found the oldest version of my project. I transferred it to my external hard drive, opened it on my PC, and there you go—it works! Phew! Don’t forget, guys, to set up automatic backups properly so you don’t run into any nasty surprises! You can configure this in Edit > Preferences > Files. Thanks, Dorico!
